Substitute Plan
Mrs. Caroline Bennett · Room 214
Help: Next-door teacher: Mr. Daniel Whitaker, Room 215 · Office extension 2100
Start of day
Sign in at the front office and pick up the classroom key. Attendance is taken on the laptop on my desk (password taped underneath).
Schedule
8:10–8:20 · Homeroom
Attendance, announcements over the PA.
8:25–9:15 · Period 1 · English Language Arts
Worksheet packet on the front table. Students work in pairs, then discuss answers as a class in the last 10 minutes.
9:20–10:10 · Period 2 · English Language Arts
Same worksheet packet as Period 1. This class needs a quiet start — no group work for the first 10 minutes.
10:15–11:05 · Period 3 · Planning
No class. Feel free to use my desk.
11:10–12:00 · Period 4 · Life Science
Documentary and viewing guide. Link is already open in a tab on the laptop.
Students who can help
- Aiden (knows the tech and the routine)
- Olivia (can run errands to the office)
- Mason (helps translate for Mia)
Seating and behavior
Please seat Jayden and Alexis apart. Carlos has a pass to leave for the counselor at 10:30. If a student needs a break, they can sit at the back table for five minutes.
Emergency information
Fire exit: down the hall, left, out the double doors. Muster point is the far end of the north field. Emergency folder with class rosters is in the red binder by the door.
End of day
Please leave a short note on how each class went, collect the worksheets and stack them on my desk, and lock the door and drop the key at the office.

How to use it
- 1Fill in the header so the substitute knows who to ask for help.
- 2Add a row for each period with the time, class and exactly what students should do.
- 3Note the students who can help, plus anything a stranger to the room needs to know.
- 4Print two copies: one for the desk, one for the office.
